Researching how to Research

Finally my internet is up and running. I've been running a round stealing internet to do parts of my work for module 2. This use of the internet has been about finding information about my inquiry.

But as many realised. This module is not about doing work per say but more so planning. Planning how to plan to find something we don't know what we want to find but want to find something. Baffling stuff. But i like it.

I have come up with my inquiry topic on creativity. Had may interesting conversations and read many details write ups and discussions on the topic. But this is not what i am suppose to be doing.

What i am suppose to be doing and have been doing but it feels kind of weird, is researching how to research. The idea with researching with out any predetermined ideas or quickly found answers but how to look at it objectively and from many angles and considerations. Also looking at the ethical considerations of things with broad meanings. Things which could skew ideas ans the methods of being fair and asking open questions to get true thoughts and ideas not suggestions that seem compelled to support my ideas.

Oddly enough today i started an online learning course on ethics and its history.

This course has taken me many places i did not think of before. But this is great as i feel more like a skilled researcher and am picking up many useful analytical skills. I hope i learn them well and use my time well also. let's wee where it all leads.

Real Research

How real is our research? Do we already know what information we are looking for already exists? Is our search unbiased? Do we get answers form our research  for what we want to find? I tend to think I'm a pro a google searches and can find anything I'm looking for. But is that because I know it is already out there? Have you ever found any information, ideas or anything which you was not looking for? But was very useful to you? I have. But i would not call it research, as I did not re-look for the information i found. This was me finding it for the first time, somewhat unexpectedly. I "randomly" came across an interesting art style i saw not familiar with. But was really impressed with and wanted to replicate parts of it into my own work. I "researched" this art style on Deviant Art, and online art sharing and forum platform. I used their search filter. Looking for illustration work. Scrolling through many pages and having it standout and catch my eye w...

Title Tells Training. But Practice Proves Perfection

Be for yesterday's enjoyable Skype call, A was reading A Handbook on Reflections and Experiential Learning, by Jennifer Moon. I was thinking about my previous learning experiences and how I reflect on how that effects my teaching. Like teachers who never let you have hands on experience at something new the first lesson. But make you wait till 2 or 3 lessons in. I hated that. Hence I never do that. The topic in the 5pm Skype call was on similar ideas. A key point that stood out for us was the term discourse. -  Discourse or basically said a conversation with in our field which only we really understand as it focuses in on its finer details and concerns to help make our practice work better for us. Beyond our training. Many of us shared what fields we are trained in. But our training does not necessarily define what actual practice we are in now. It was expressed that training helps give a broad title to what we do or have learnt. But our practice is a focus of key routines whic...
